Places of Interest in the History of Textile Manufacturing in Prato

10/12/2011 - 29/1/2011

Organized by Metropoli, the exhibition proposes a series of photographs taken from I Luoghi Storici della Produzione nel Pratese, a volume by Giuseppe Guanci tracing the industrial development of Prato which follows the publication of a previous collection of photographs focusing on the development of the textile  industry in the Bisenzio valley.
Offering a beautiful collection of images of the places in which the history of the textile manufacturing industry of Prato has its roots, the photographs proposed in the exhibition - the majority of which have never been previously published - are perfectly enhanced by the ancient industrial architecture of the former the Campolmi textile mill in which is now home to Prato Textile Museum.
Indeed, the recently restored Campolmi textile mill, a jewel in the crown of Tuscan industrial architecture, is a fine example of how a former textile manufacturing centre can take on a new lease of life as a centre of local culture.
