Familiarization Area
Be they created as the result of hours of laborious handiwork or a state-of-the-art technological process, textiles are extremely complex products and generally rather difficult for non-experts to understand. The aim of the Familiarization Area is to provide non-specialists with an overview of the various materials and production techniques used in the manufacture of textiles.
The Familiarization Area commences with a series of explanatory panels, photos and objects focusing on the textile production system before going on to examine the main types of fibre used in textile manufacturing and the various ways in which these raw materials are transformed into finished products (spinning, weaving, dying, etc.).
Throughout this section of the Museum, visitors are warmly encouraged not only to touch the exhibits but also to participate in many of the manufacturing processes.
