There are many opportunities for volunteers wishing to participate in the life of Prato Textile Museum. Indeed, those able to dedicate free time and skills to the museum are encouraged to participate in all areas of the Museum’s activities. No academic qualifications are required as the services of each Prato Textile Museum volunteer are employed according to the aptitude of the person concerned and the organizational needs of the Museum.

Since 2000 Prato Textile Museum has enjoyed a privileged relationship with the voluntary section of the Prato Association of Friends of Museums and Environmental Heritage [www.amicimuseiprato.net] and, indeed, thanks to the support of over 60 volunteers is now open (without charge) on Sundays from 4 pm to 7 pm. The support of these volunteers also enables the organization of extraordinary events, inaugurations and special opening times.

Prato Textile Museum Volunteers have the right to the following benefits:

• Issue of a card enabling free access to the museum for the volunteer, his or her family and/or guests (for a maximum of four people including the cardholder);
• Invitations to the opening of temporary exhibitions and new exhibitions of Museum collections;
• Discount of 10-30% on the purchase of books and gifts from the Museum bookshop; Facilities and discounts on adult education courses and workshops;
• Participation in training activities and events for volunteers.
