The Garden Of Delights

October 16, 2016 - January, 29, 2017

The Canadian felt-maker opens her first solo exhibition in Italy with a selection of thirteen works inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights/h3>

Il Giardino delle delizie – Garden of Delights, is the first solo exhibition in Italy of felt-maker Marjolein Dallinga. Fourteen large felt works, inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights, are displayed in the Museum’s exhibition spaces in a magical and surreal itinerary that blends harmoniously with the ancient machinery and textiles.

The works are an expression of the artist’s subconscious, and reflect her fascination with the natural world. Her imagery comes to life through inventive installations in the shape of surreal, soft, elongated creatures, hanging mid-air or reaching for the ground, loaded with shimmering colors whose infinite hues recall those of natural phenomena.

Exhibition

Originally from the Netherlands, the artist currently lives in Canada, where she began her artistic career with drawing and painting. Later on, she developed an interest in felting wool, a technique with a creative and sculptural potential which fully matches her sensibility for color and shape.

The exhibition has been organized in partnership with DyeingHouseGallery, a Prato company that over the years has made its mark in the production and marketing of materials for artists, artisans and felt makers.

With this initiative, the Museo del Tessuto Foundation is beginning an unprecedented journey into the appreciation of the contemporary, through the artistic and experimental use of raw textile materials and with the involvement of international artists and felt-makers.
