Supporting the Museo del Tessuto means...

– Preserving a collection of international significance

The Museum’s collection consists of more than 7000 objects that document the history and art of textiles from the early Christian era to the present day. Furthermore, the Museo del Tessuto receives, conserves and restores many donated objects related to the history of textiles that would otherwise be irretrievably lost.

– Organising educational and didactic activities

The Museum fosters knowledge of textiles by inspiring students, professionals and future generations of creatives in the textile sector.

Every year, roughly 5000 students and 1000 families participate in guided tours, interactive creative workshops and in-depth courses to introduce children and teenagers to textiles, fashion and design.

– Promoting social inclusion programmes

The Museum places particular emphasis on designing specific itineraries dedicated to groups of the public usually excluded from cultural programmes: those in disadvantaged conditions and people with disabilities.

The objectives of these itineraries are: to give these groups valuable tools to access the territory’s cultural resources, to introduce them to the museum setting and, finally, to generate new impetus for interaction and social integration.
